Aphex Twin Vst Plugins
Aphex Vintage Aural Exciter. A tone you can’t get anywhere else. The Waves Aphex Vintage Aural Exciter is an exciter plugin that was modeled on one of the few tube powered units ever made. If you are not sure what an exciter does, it is basically a saturation plugin but instead of adding low end distortion, it adds it in the high end. Don't fall into the trap of thinking you can only make music if you have X vst or Y synth, or Z audio interface. Better to make music with crap equipment than to sit and dream about how you'll finally be able to start making music when X + Y + Z arrives. Retro Electronic pulls influences from artists such as Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Boards of Canada as well as keeping an open mind to modern vaporwave, electronic ambient music and cinematic scores. All Loops are rendered at 100 BPM and in the key of Am. Mix and match loops or use them in combination with your own sounds to create something. Re: DX or VST plug like Aphex? « Reply #4 on: October 07, 2005, 09:32:33 am » Waves Maxx Bass is easily as good as the Aphex Big Bottom plug-in, probably better. Make like Aphex Twin or Four Tet with these six free experimental plug-ins. Add swirling sonics, distortion and filters to create superb tracks without spending a single penny.
Now here’s an interesting scenario. Imagine an album or EP release being a sampler or synth plugin allowing you some options as to how you play the music back. Well, a new poster for Aphex Twin’s new EP suggests that with some juicy details.
Here’s how the poster (via RouteNote) looks and reads:
'The Aphex Twin Cheetah EP uses digital sound generation techniques combined with wave sequencing technology to bring you sounds with movement and depth rarely found on records today.
'To assure you that your Cheetah EP will give you many years of enjoyment, please be sure to read the owners manual carefully before attempting to operate the Cheetah EP.
'If you wish to experiment and create some sounds of your own, first try editing some sounds we’ve already made for you, before attempting to create a patch from scratch.
'We sincerely hope that having battled through the programming of the Cheetah EP, you have not become familiar with the exceptional potential of this record.
'Have fun programming, and if you create any superb patches and tones which you feel deserve to be appreciated by other Cheetah EP buyers, send a MIDI System Dump of them, on a disc to us at WARP and if we also think they are superb, you could be rewarded for your efforts. Try us!”

For synthesists and music makers this is potentially very exciting. Perhaps there’ll be a software synth bundled with the album? Alternatively, perhaps we'll be able to buy the album which lives inside a hardware synth. Now THAT would be exciting!
Let’s wait and see what Richard D. James has planned…
